Improving Financial Wellness Through Financial Literacy
The Genesis Health Project Network has been awarded a grant from the New York State Department of Health to provide a three-part seminar on “Improving Financial Wellness Among African Americans Through Financial Literacy.”

These seminars will be hosted by Pastor Kenneth W. Reed on 3 Thursdays in the spring of 2023 from 6:00pm – 7:30pm – Thursday April 13th, Thursday April 27th, and Thursday May 11th – at Greater Evangelical Church of God in Christ.
Topics for the seminars will include:
- Understanding Credit
- Household Budgeting and Saving
- Retirement and Emergency Savings
The seminars will be facilitated by Rickey T. Brown, Principal/Founder of Diversify-NY, LLC. Rickey T. Brown is founder and principal of Diversify-NY, LLC, a New York State Certified Minority Business Enterprise and technical assistance provider. Mr. Brown holds a Bachelors of Science in Finance from Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management. Today, he leverages his background to advocate for policies that benefit the economically disenfranchised. He serves on several boards, including Onondaga Community College, the Syracuse Industrial Development Agency, Housing Visions, and the Syracuse City School District Foundation.
